Virtual Astronomy Lecture:
“What’s Up in the Fall Sky?” (A Free, Virtual Lecture)
SPEAKER: William Francis Taylor MSc
CO-HOST: Shelter Island Public LIbrary
Registration is required: https://bit.ly/FallSkyTalk
What makes the days shorter, the nights longer, and the air cooler? What heavenly bodies and celestial events can we observe for the remainder of the year? What is an annular solar eclipse, what can we expect to see during the one that will occur on October 14, 2023, and how can we safely view it? In this free virtual (Zoom) event, we will discuss the seasons, such special events as meteor showers, as well as the planets and constellations that will be visible.
Hamptons Observatory Senior Educator, William Francis Taylor, MSc, has been a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador since 2014, lecturing about the universe around us and sharing his love of the heavens by giving guided tours of the sky through telescopes. He is a life-long East End resident.
Hamptons Observatory would like to thank the Shelter Island Public Library for co-hosting this event, and William Francis Taylor for sharing his expertise.
While this is a free lecture, donations are appreciated to help support our programs.
